Detailed Itinerary: 9 Days Luxury Uganda Safari
Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport and Transfer to Your Hotel in Entebbe.
On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will meet and greet with a representative from Engabi Tours and Travel who will welcome you to Uganda and Transfer you No.5 Boutique Hotel in Entebbe Town. He or she will brief you about your upcoming activities.
Day 2: Flight to Kasese Airstrip Near Queen Elizabeth National Park
After a very early breakfast, you will be transferred to Entebbe International Airport for your flight to Kasese Airstrip near Queen Elizabeth National Park. On arrival, you will meet and greet with your dedicated driver/guide who will transfer the park and then you will be transferred to The River Station Lodge with a private boat access to the lodge. Lunch is served and you can relax before the evening dhow cruise for wildlife viewing and later back to the lodge for a hearty dinner.
Named after the late Queen of England, this is Uganda’s most iconic and picturesque game reserve. The park stretches from the crater-dotted foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains in the north along the shores of Lake Edward to the remote Ishasha River in the south. It encompasses a stunning array of habitats including savanna, wetlands and lowland forests.
Day 3: Full Day in Queen Elizabeth National Park
You will start your day with an early morning game drive. Queen Elizabeth National Park is home to over 100 mammal species including lions, hippos, buffaloes, leopards, spotted hyenas, elephants and the elusive giant forest hog. The park also hosts a variety of primates such as chimpanzees, black-and-white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, olive baboons and the black-faced red colobus. After the game drive you will return to the lodge for some relaxation. In the afternoon, you will enjoy a scheduled boat ride on the Kazinga Channel.
Day 4: Transfer to Ishasha Sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park and Full Day Game Drive.
After an early breakfast, you will drive to Ishasha located in the southern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park. In the Afternoon, you will embark on a game drive in search of the famous tree-climbing lions which are commonly found in this part of the park. You will conclude your day with a sundowner enjoying the breathtaking view of the sun setting over the vast savannah landscape. Tonight, you will stay at Ishasha Wilderness Camp
Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the Buhoma sector of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park arriving in time for check-in to your lodge at A&K Gorilla Forest Lodge.
Day 6: First Gorilla Trekking
Today after breakfast you will be transferred to the Park headquarters for briefing about the gorilla trekking rules. You will then enter the jungle to start the search for the Mountain Gorillas and on finding them you will Spend1 hour with them which will be a great experience for everyone. In the afternoon you will stay by the lodge relaxing or visit the local community for a cultural experience.
The mountain gorilla is the largest of all living primates with adults weighing between 135 and 220 kg (300 and 485 lbs). These gentle giants inhabit dense rainforests, bamboo forests and subalpine grasslands. Herbivores by nature, they forage for a variety of plants, herbs and succulents. Gorillas are incredibly social creatures living in family groups of up to 40 individuals and typically led by a dominant silverback. This alpha male named for the distinctive silver stripe of hair on his back serves as the leader, protector and primary decision-maker of the group. He is often joined by a subordinate silverback to help defend the family, several adult females, a mix of younger males (blackbacks), juveniles and infants.
Day 7: Second Gorilla Tracking and Visit to the Pigmies Community
Today you will have another chance to track gorillas. This time you will be allocated to a different habituated gorilla family and you will learn more about gorillas when you track them for the second time. When the tracking is done you will return to the lodge for a hot lunch and thereafter visit the nearby pigmy’s community for a cultural experience. Dinner and overnight
Day 8: Stay at Leisure
Today is a leisure day which you can fill with optional excursions or book a spa treatment and reflect on your spectacular few days in this beautiful country. Before travelling back home, you can resource in the fresh air and meditate with a few of the mountains surrounding you.
Day 9: Flight to Entebbe for connecting flight
After breakfast you will be transferred by road to Kihihi Airstrip from where you will take your flight to Entebbe International Airport arriving in time for your connecting flight marking the end of the trip.
