Detailed Itinerary: 5-Day Gorilla trekking safari in Uganda
Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport
Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International AirportWelcome to Uganda! Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport (EBB), you will be met by your dedicated Engabi Tours and Travel driver who will transfer you to your hotel at No.5 Boutique Hotel in Entebbe to have some rest before tomorrow’s adventures. If you arrive very early, you may go watching the shoebill in the nearby mabamba swamp.
Day 2: Flight to Kihihi Airstrip Near Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After a very early breakfast, you will transfer to Entebbe International Airport where an Aero link staff member will assist you with the check-in and transfer to your domestic flight to Kihihi Airstrip. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by your dedicated driver who will welcome you and transfer you to your lodge in Buhoma sector of Bwindi Forest.
In the evening, you might embark on a two-hour immersive walk through the Bakiga and Batwa communities to connect with local culture. You will Begin at a small tea farm where you can meet tea pickers and try your hand at plucking tea leaves. Next, you will visit a banana beer brewery to see how bananas are mashed, fermented and distilled into a popular regional drink and then you will continue to a local hospital supported by the camp where you will learn about its impactful community projects. Finally, you will continue to a nearby village to meet a traditional healer who shares generational knowledge about medicinal herbs sourced from the forest and then cap off your evening with a performance by the Batwa community before returning to the camp for dinner.
You will stay at A&K Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Lodge for the next 3 Nights. Please Note: Regional flights have a limited capacity and as such require passengers weighing 115kg or more to book a second seat.
Travel time: Flight – approx. 2.5 hours / Driving – approx. 90 minutes
Day 3: First Gorilla Trekking
Today after breakfast you will be transferred to the Park headquarters for briefing about the gorilla trekking rules. You will then enter the jungle to start the search for the Mountain Gorillas and on finding them you will Spend1 hour with them which will be a great experience for everyone.
Day 4: Second Gorilla Tracking and Visit to the Pigmies Community
Today you will have another chance to track gorillas. This time you will be allocated to a different habituated gorilla family and you will learn more about gorillas when you trackthem for the second time. When the tracking is done you will return to the lodge for a hot lunch and thereafter visit the nearby pigmy’s community for a cultural experience.
Day 5: Flight from Kihihi Airstrip to Entebbe International Airport
Today you will bid farewell to Bwindi after one last breakfast then transfer to the Kihihi Airstrip for your flight back to Entebbe International Airport (EBB) arriving in time for your connecting flight marking the end of the trip.
