Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe and Flight to Kibale Forest

From Entebbe, you will be transferred to Entebbe Airport for your scheduled flight to western Uganda. Flying over the country’s lush countryside, crater lakes, and rolling hills provides a spectacular introduction to the Pearl of Africa. Upon arrival at Kasese airstrip serving Kibale Forest National Park, you will be met by your guide and transferred to your luxury lodge nestled on the edge of the forest.

The remainder of the day is at leisure. Relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings, take in views of the nearby crater lakes, or simply unwind in preparation for the exciting primate encounters ahead.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale Forest National Park

After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing before setting off into the rainforest in search of chimpanzees. Kibale Forest is renowned for hosting the highest concentration of primates in East Africa and offers some of the best chimpanzee tracking experiences on the continent. Accompanied by experienced rangers, follow forest trails as you search for habituated chimpanzee communities.

Once located, spend time observing these fascinating primates as they feed, communicate, groom one another, and move through the forest canopy. Their intelligence, social behavior, and human-like interactions make for an unforgettable wildlife experience. The forest is also home to black-and-white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, and a remarkable variety of birds and butterflies.

Return to the lodge for lunch and enjoy a relaxing afternoon surrounded by the beauty of the forest.

Day 3: Flight to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, transfer to the airstrip for your scheduled flight to the Bwindi region. The scenic flight offers breathtaking views of Uganda’s diverse landscapes, including volcanic highlands, terraced hillsides, and dense rainforest stretching across the southwest of the country.

Upon arrival at Kihihi Airstrip, you will be met and transferred to the renowned Gorilla Forest Lodge, located within the Bwindi forest ecosystem. Spend the afternoon at leisure enjoying the lodge’s tranquil setting. The surrounding forest is home to numerous bird species and primates, and it is not uncommon to encounter wildlife near the lodge itself. This evening, your guide will brief you on the following day’s gorilla trekking adventure.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Today is dedicated to one of Africa’s most extraordinary wildlife experiences. Following an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers before entering the forest in search of a habituated mountain gorilla family.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park protects nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorilla population and offers a truly intimate wildlife encounter. Accompanied by expert guides and trackers, venture through the dense rainforest as you follow signs leading to the gorillas. Once the family is located, spend a magical hour observing them in their natural environment. Watch young gorillas play, mothers care for their infants, and the dominant silverback oversee the group. The privilege of sharing space with these gentle giants is often described as one of the most moving wildlife experiences on Earth.

After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and a relaxing afternoon. Reflect on the day’s incredible encounter while enjoying the comfort and serenity of the forest.

Day 5: Flight to Entebbe and Departure

After breakfast, transfer to Kihihi Airstrip for your scheduled flight back to Entebbe. As you fly north, enjoy a final aerial view of Uganda’s spectacular landscapes, from emerald forests and rolling hills to the shimmering waters of Lake Victoria.
